Culina’s dairy-free pumpkin spice yogurt delivers an irresistible creaminess but doesn’t quite hit the mark on pumpkin spice flavor.

Taste

The seasonal ingredients in this yogurt seemed like they should make the perfect autumnal blend–cinnamon, clove, maple, pumpkin, nutmeg– all good things! Somehow, the combination didn’t deliver PSL dreams. The yogurt is sour with a strong lemon flavor despite lemon not being on the ingredient list.

Price

Culina’s yogurt costs about $3 for a 5-ounce container, which is $.60 per ounce. This price point sits somewhere in the middle compared to other flavored coconut-based yogurts. Cocojune costs about $.75 per ounce, while Siggi’s coconut yogurt costs about $.32 per ounce.

Texture

The texture is perfect. It’s extra creamy and thick, making it a perfect vehicle for your favorite yogurt toppings like nuts or granola. I was impressed by how velvety and smooth this yogurt is.

EV’s Take: A super sour pumpkin spice yogurt

I’ve been all-in on everything pumpkin the past couple of weeks, and I knew I had to review Culina’s dairy-free pumpkin spice yogurt.

Culina Dairy-Free Pumpkin Spice Yogurt

The packaging promises an “impossibly thick and creamy” yogurt, and they deliver there. This yogurt is perfect for holding all your favorite toppings. It’s not runny or thin at all. The texture is the best part of this yogurt. One thing to note is that you may notice separation when you first open the container. It will look quite runny and watery; however, once you stir it up, it’ll become extra thick and creamy!

The flavor is a little bit of a miss for me. The ingredient list made me feel like Culina’s pumpkin spice yogurt would become my autumn breakfast go-to, but it was too acidic and harsh for my liking.

Their website notes that these yogurts are fermented for 18+ hours. Typical rules of yogurt fermentation will tell you that 6 to 8 hours creates a mild yogurt, 8 to 12 hours creates a tart yogurt, and anything above 12 hours produces a sour yogurt. To contextualize that, dairy-based Greek yogurt typically ferments for about 8 to 12 hours. Culina is on the more extreme end of the spectrum with their fermentation producing what they consider a “thick and tangy,” plant-based yogurt. Therefore, the sourness isn’t surprising, but it may catch you off guard during your first bite!

You may enjoy the sharp flavor, but I hoped for something warm and spiced, like the flavor profile of Kite Hill’s pumpkin pie cream cheese I recently reviewed.

That said, a few shakes of pumpkin pie spice on top helped bring in more fall flavors that I missed from this yogurt. Is it my favorite vegan yogurt of all time? Probably not. The texture is wonderful, so I’ll be excited to try Culina’s other flavors.

Culina Pumpkin Spice Yogurt Ingredients

The ingredient list is as short as can be, which I love.

Here’s what’s in each bite of Culina’s vegan pumpkin spice yogurt:

Organic coconut, water, pumpkin, maple syrup, agar, probiotics, cinnamon oil, nutmeg oil, clove oil, orange oil.

How did EV eat Culina Dairy-Free Pumpkin Spice Yogurt?

Culina Pumpkin Spice Yogurt

I kept it very simple and didn’t use this product in recipes. My husband and I shared the cup as an evening snack. After a few bites, we both decided the sourness was a little intense, so we added a few shakes of pumpkin spice, which helped soften the acidity of Culina’s yogurt.

Here are a few suggestions for how to use Culina’s yogurt:

  • Yogurt bowl: Load this up with pecans, shredded coconut, and a drizzle of maple syrup. It would also work well with chopped dates. Spiced, crunchy granola would be delicious in this.
  • Overnight oats: Add this to your next batch of overnight oats. You could even use this in my Pumpkin Cheesecake Overnight Oats recipe. Simply replace the Kite Hill cream cheese with Culina’s yogurt for a sharper flavor.
  • Coffee cake: I may buy another container of Culina’s yogurt and try it in Delish Knowledge’s vegan coffee cake recipe. Yum! I’ll return with the results when I make it!

Where can I buy Culina Pumpkin Spice Yogurt?

You can purchase this vegan pumpkin spice yogurt on Amazon, but I imagine it’s a limited-edition flavor, so you’d better grab it quickly! Culina’s website also has a store locator and an online ordering page, so you can find a retailer close to you or all the places to buy it online!
