EV’s Take: Beyond Steak is Our New Rice Bowl Hero
If you read my review of Beyond Burger or Beyond Sausage, you’ll know that the texture is what Beyond always gets right. Their products are almost alarmingly convincing regarding meatiness, whether they’re simulating ground meat or, in this case, steak tips. As you continue to read my Beyond Steak review, you’ll find that the texture is the winning element of this product. They absolutely nailed it with these plant-based steak tips.
In my previous review, you might remember that I found their burger’s meatiness unnerving, perhaps because of how much it oozed as it cooked; it felt too real. As I reviewed Beyond Steak, I found myself really enjoying the meaty texture, and I didn’t experience the same meaty ick as I did with the burger.
The Beyond Steak plant-based steak tips are pure plant-based deliciousness. They’re tender, melt in your mouth, absorb sauce perfectly, and brown beautifully in a hot skillet. Best of all? They’re as easy as anything to fry up for a quick lunch or dinner. You can pile these on hoagie rolls for a steak sandwich, stuff them in tortillas for taco night, or pair them with cooked white rice and a gochujang sauce for a plant-based bibimbap. This is a versatile product that you can use for almost anything. I bet they’d be delicious as the base for a plant-based stroganoff!
Overall, my review of the Beyond Steak steak tips is overwhelmingly positive. I found them delicious, easy to prepare, and super versatile for any plant-based meal.
Beyond Steak Steak Tips Ingredients
Unlike Beyond Burgers–whose recipe recently switched to avocado oil–the steak tips use canola oil. They rely on faba bean protein–a protein derived from fava beans–instead of pea protein. While fava beans aren’t a variety of peas, they reside in the same family.
Here’s what’s in Beyond Steak’s steak tips:
Water, Wheat Gluten, Faba Bean Protein, Expeller-Pressed Canola Oil, Salt, Natural Flavor, And Less Than 1% of Spice, Garlic Powder, Onion Powder, Pomegranate Concentrate, Yeast Extract, Sunflower Lecithin, Fruit and Vegetable Juice Color.
Contains: Wheat.
Those with soy allergies should note that while soy isn’t on the ingredient list, Beyond’s website does mention that these steak tips may contain soy.

How to cook Beyond Steak steak tips
So you’ve read my Beyond Steak review and are ready to cook them up? Luckily, these steak tips are so easy to prepare that you hardly need any instructions! Heat a little oil in a skillet over medium, add the steak tips, and fry them up for about 5 minutes until crisp around the edges.
Alternatively, you can air fry the steak tips for 4 to 5 minutes at 350ºF.
Beyond advises against using the microwave or oven.
Once they’re cooked through, you can add whatever sauce or seasoning you like.
How did EV eat Beyond Steak steak tips?
I fried the steak tips and cooked them in a sweet and spicy gochujang-maple sauce. From there, I served them with roasted broccoli and cooked white rice. The finished product was incredible and so satisfying for an easy weeknight dinner.
For a 10-ounce package of Beyond Steak, here is the recipe I used for the gochujang-maple sauce:
- 1 heaping tablespoon gochujang
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup
- 2 teaspoons rice vinegar
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon roasted sesame seeds
- Splash or two of water to thin it out
I followed the instructions for frying the steak tips in a little oil. After 5 minutes, I turned the heat to high and added the sauce. Once the sauce boiled, I reduced the heat to low and simmered for 2 to 3 minutes. Once the beef absorbed all that sweet and spicy sauce, I just piled it on my white rice with broccoli, and it was fantastic!
Where can I buy Beyond Steak?
While many of Beyond’s products are available on Amazon, the steak tips aren’t in their Amazon storefront. I found them at Sprouts through Instacart. You can use their store locator to find a retailer near you.
